Kid Rock has not been shy about supporting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan, even when it costs him some fans.

The made-in-Michigan rock music performer and rapper introduced Ryan throughout a rally Monday evening in the Detroit suburb of Rochester.

Born Robert Ritchie, Rock told the raucous crowd collected at Concord College he thinks "you need to are a symbol of something" even when it might alienate a couple of fans.

Rock added it's OK to disagree, specifically in a music business he states "sways very left."

He quieted the crowd a little as he shared his pride over the election of Obama as the first black leader. But he rapidly added he was sorry Obama "did not perform a better job."
